What is a hazard:
A Workplace hazard is any condition, practice or behavior that could cause injury or illness to a person or damage to property.

Kitchen- Deep fryer/hot oil
Warehouse- heavy or high-placed objects
Restaurant- Chemicals
School- Body Fluids

The two types of injuries:
Acute- Burns, Scrapes, Broken Bones
Chronic- Repetitive Strain, hearing loss, loss of limb, cancer
Types of hazards
Physical Hazards:Include unsafe machines and environmental conditions.( Large Machines, sharp blades, loud noises)
Biological Hazards: Hazards produced by living things( germs, blood, viruses )
Chemical Hazards Include material that are flammable, explosive or poisonous ( Bleach, Gasoline, Pesticides)
Ergonomic Hazards Caused by poorly designed workplaces or processes.(poor lighting, repetitive strain)
Psychosocial : Can cause hazards (Stress- Conflict with other workers, Large Workloads/Violence- Threats, Assault)
